Recently, theatre staff experienced table movement without handset request on this table, not a good situation, has anyone out there heard or experienced this before ?

The cause, apparently due to an "ingress of fluid", Im not quite sure where as the service report findings are not clear, Ive requested further details and a full report from Eschmann, nothing forthcoming as yet, will keep you posted

We've got the RX500 and 600 tables and both have had problems with fluid ingress into the base - where all the electronics, hydraulics, batteries and motors are located ! The problem is usually with the rubber sealing strips between the two halves of the cowling or between the cowling and the pedestal. Usually it just blows the fuse, but it has caused some odd effects on occasions.

The handsets are usually just smashed by being dropped on the floor or swinging about at the end of their cable. If you need replacement handsets be careful you get the right ones because the newer one has an extra function button - but the same plug, so it plugs into the older table and the buttons do different things than they are intended to do !

Thanks Roy, very helpfull

One of my collegues has just contacted me and had the same problem in one of our international hospitals, the table base cover design is a bit Heath Robinson and prone to distortion by the surgeons stepping on it, the seals will pass liquids no problem.
Im surprised Eschmann have not responded, they must be aware of this problem and developed a solution.

Thanks again

Darren

Because you need to retain access to the components inside the base, you can't seal the covers "permanently". Our theatres have tried some waterproof drapes which prevent fluid getting onto the top of the base and hence through the joins. Even in the parked position, the base is high enough off the floor to be clear of any spills - unless you operate under several inches of water !

I'll try and find out where they got them from and iff they were a success.

Our base covers got bent out of shape when they wheeled a "C" arm X-ray machine into it ! eek
