Medical Engineering Technician MTO3+3 £17831 to £23463(negotiable)

We require a Medical Engineering Technician who must have at least five years experience gained specifically in medical equipment maintenance, fault-finding down to component level. You will also have gained formal electronics qualifications to at least HNC/ONC level or equivalent.

The post is within our ISO9000 accredited Medical Engineering facility based at Macclesfield District General Hospital, providing a medical and specialised equipment maintenance service to East Cheshire NHS Trust and other healthcare organisations.

You will be UK resident, self-motivated, have good interpersonal skills and prepared to work as a member of a team of five Medical Technical Officers. The duties are complex in nature, demanding high levels of responsibility and independent judgement.

For your professional development, you will be expected to attend manufacturer's product training courses and any other training event, as and when the need arises.

You must have a current driving licence, as some of the work will be away from the main Macclesfield site, for which you will receive a travelling allowance if using your own vehicle.

We work a 37 hour week, Monday to Friday, with the opportunity for some overtime (currently around 12 hours per month).

For informal enquiries, please telephone Rob Chaddock, Head of Medical Engineering, on 01625 661931 during office hours. For an application form and job description, please telephone the Personnel Department on 01625 661439 quoting job reference PT036. Applications close 21 September 2001.

Don't bother, Mark.
NOBODY wants to live in Macclesfield !
It rains more than in Stockport and the snow drifts have to be experienced to be believed.
It's a good department, though - and a fairly new hospital.

Come on Roy: you're only envious that we have relatively clean air to breathe around here rather than that Carbon Monoxide infested muck you have in the great metropolis of Stockport!

Macclesfield, gateway to the Peak District..........marvellous!

Tell him about Prestbury, Rob. That's a nice place to live, and the houses are SO cheap.

Yeah Prestbury: nice place if you're a football player & can afford to live there! (I can't) I believe there are quite a number of cheapo slum dwellings for sale around the Stockport area Roy? eek

I imagine though that anyone with property to sell in the South East & wishing to move up north would make a tidy profit if they were to buy another house somewhere in or around the Macclesfield area.

Ooops, sorry! Maybe it's something to do with the very long hyperlink address included in my last post? Edit it out if you like John.

Anyroadup, your website should be robust enough to cope with this sort of thing.

I'll get my coat then....... eek

There's a much better vacancy at Stockport. Just look at my posting for a Senior Anaesthetics Technician. You could even live in Macc (with the clean air) and comute to work ! Only 30 minutes down the road through beautiful Cheshire countryside.

It's amazing this thread. Just look at the number of replies that my original post has prompted & compare that with other similar postings in the Vacancies section. And I thought that this section was just to advertise jobs confused

Hi Rob - I did get your email and I think it's a good idea, but John is on holidays and we have a policy of not doing anything without consulting each other.

I take your point about advertising jobs only - but I don't see the problem with the occasional OT (off topic) banter.

Perhaps if users feel 'closer' to each other it will promote communication further - I certainly see that on Usenet.

I will be chatting with John about this on his return.

Hello Huw

OT banter is OK by me too, but I suppose it depends on the topic & the amount really. Definition of "occasional" required please!

Hmmm got me there.
I know this thread has gone way OT - but I suppose what I meant was occasional OT in a number of threads (as opposed to just one).
