I have just heard a horrible rumour that the Tec's at Guys and St Thomas's in London have been graded. And wait for it!!
MTO 3's to grade 5, MTO 4's to grade 6 and MTO 5's to grade 8!!!!
Any body out there who can confirm this or hopefully tell me it is wrong?

I cannot confirm the result but I am a Med.Tech. and also a matcher at my hospital and that is how I expect posts to pan out.
Are you dissapointed or happy with the result?
Remember there will be London weighting on the pay.
Tony.

The web address for ART is:- www.artery.org.uk as far as I'm aware this information is genuine if its coming from the Technical Manager I have no reasons not to.

The pay bands Noddy is refering to are for the Renal Techs. Double D may be quoting the EBME techs? It would be interesting to know if there is a difference. I guess the techs there may be appealing against their bands, but I'm sure we would all like to know what they were offered.

Is anyone on-call over Christmas & do you get a day off in leau for Christmas, Boxing & New years day?

Hi Simon
On this occasion If the proof is required and does only relate to Renal Techs as is put I suggest you have a very close look at the gov A4C web IT IS there!!!! I'm sure I don't need to give anyone the site web address? If it is of any use you will also find the current general terms and conditions.

James Paget Hospital, Early Implementor.
This is what I think has happened there.

Chief Technician MTO4 + 3star points to Band 8a
Senior Technician MTO4 to Band 6
Technician X2 MTO3 + 3star points to Band 6
Technician MTO3 to Band 5
Technician X2 MTO2 to Band 4

forty five

As I am a MTO 4 + 2stars will I be graded to band 8? The way it is being explained/laidout by the brass north of the border I will be graded as band 6, MTo 3's to band 5 and so on. The disparity across the country seems huge and I guees you might find an invasion of us jocks looking for jobs down south. The impresion I get it dosn't really matter what grade we are on at present it comes down to how well we right our job desciptions. Also I am considering voluntering for the training to be a valuator/matcher as this will give me insight into how to right up a JD to enable me and my staff to get better grades than at present being offered.

Hi Double D

you have hit the nail right on the head when you say it is down to JD'S.That is why you should sign them off only after having being fully consulted and B. satisfied that they are a true representation of your current duties.
It is also important to remember that they reflect the duties, as carried out by the postholder over the past twelve months

It should also be noted that chapter three of the agreement is applied. It(ch 3) relates to the experience held by the post holder NOT the experince of a new starter or that of someone recently promoted to a higher grade

Regards
John

Profiles already agrreed are:

Band 4: Medical Engineering Technician (Entry Level
Band 5: Medical Engineering Technician
Band 6: Specialist Medical Engineering Technician
Band 7: Medical Engineering Section Manager;

It is my understanding that all job matchers will be aiming to match to a nationally agreed profile. If you don't meet one fo these profiles you may have to go through the JAQ, details of which are on the AFC website.

Hi all.
The fundamental mistake some people are making is that a particular ATO/SATO/MTO grade relates to a particular AFC band.
However the info that came with the Amicus ballot paper suggests Band 4 (national profile).
