IF you're on the top of your pay band pre AFC, your incremental date should change to 1st Oct and you should have a backdated increment on 1/10/2005, on your AFC band.

Your incremental date only changes if you where on the top of your payscale on the 1/10/2004, otherwise you keep the same date.

Heard Gloucestershires trust earnt £43K from interest on money owed to staff, apparently staff side have (are) negotiated to get the money back to the staff. That should get the ball rolling, as my union said it couldn't be done, will speak to them again in light of this new information.

we had our backpay this month but theres alot of dispute on the ammount. I have been banded on the top of band 5. so i simply worked out the difference back to october 2004. However payroll are saying that in 2004 i would have been 2 steps down the scale and not at the top and have worked it out that way. I diasagree and say that if im banded at the top of the scale then its from effect from 2004 at that point.. At the moment im still owed nearly £1000 and im thinking of taking legal action if they dont pay it

eb >> I think it may be worthwhile digging out the AFC assimilation paperwork.

Work out out what your pre-afc wage was, then add the £200 or so that your equivalent afc grade on a 5 would be. (normally within £200 transition limit or so).

Then add your increments

You wont actually get banded to the top of a 5, you just get banded to a 5 on or around your current wage (check the afc pay scales 2004/2005 for details). I essentially think payroll are correct, as 1.5 years down the line you have now reached the top of a 5.

Ask them to explain it a little better on paper, or dig out all the afc scales for yourself, I'm sure its just a misunderstanding (very common) during the transition to AFC.

There seems to be a lot of disrcepancies in the paperwork that staff are given when they are assimilated.

When i was assimilated last year, in my previos job, the letter clearly stated what grade i had been assimilted into on 1st oct 2004 and the pay scales for that year were included in the paperwork.

The paperwork then went on to tell me my new increment date and the pay i was now recieveing and the payscales for that year (from apr 05).

Perhaps if the people writting these letters made it clearer what was happening to people, it would be a lot less stressful for the people recieving the letters.

On back pay, at my previous job we recieved the letters and that month received the new monthly salary.
On the next month we recieved the back pay which made it a lot easier to see what the monthly difference would be.
This probably helped finance as any mistakes were resolved before it got too messy with back pay.

I would be happy with a permanent banding, as i am with many others are on a temporary band at the moment with protected pay, so no annual pay rise for me.

THIS WAS MEANT TO SAVE THE NHS MONEY?!?!

eb, what is your incremental date? I have to assume that you were not at the top of the mto scale. For arguments sake I will assume you were (on 1/10/04)an MTO 3 on point 24 (£21287) which would have transfered (effectivly for back pay) on 1/10/04 to afc point 24 (£22143), if your incremental date was 1st Dec, then on the 1/12/04 you would be moved to point 25 (£22483) and on 1/12/05 to point 26 (top of band 5) £23442 (or point 25 £24198 after april 05 payrise). If you were above whitley point 24 on 1/10/04 then you can only have had a maximum of one increment under afc and not two, so argue with them

anyone want to hazzard a guess as to where i'll land (currently top of mtoIII scale) or how much back i'll get.. i'll report the pout comes next month shades
