One of the ways in which we are addressing Controls Assurance with regards to user training and availability of operating manuals is to obtain, where possible, manuals on CD (usually in Adobe Acrobat format). Some companies have been kind enough to supply technical manuals on CD too. So far, I've managed to obtain only a handful of CDs from manufacturers but I'm sure that there are more out there. Has anyone already looked into this subject? Does anyone have a list of companies that can provide such information?

Hi Alex
We'd be happy to provide them as downloads, but it's getting the manufacturers to give them up.

We were actually discussing this last year if you recall http://www.ebme.co.uk/cgi-bin/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=000008

I've seen some of the Arcomedical manuals and very good they are.

On the new server - bandwidth is no longer a problem - so if we could get the manufacturers to agree the answer is YES.

We are examing having some of the manuals for older equipment scanned onto CD rom
Mitec are able to do this at what appears to be a reasonable cost.
Could people please list what they have been able to obtain from manufacturers.
Huw could a list be published if people send information.

This topic seems to be running out of steam. All our colleagues seem to be part of a secret society. Can we get our act together and share information as to who has got what?

We've got some information on CD - but not a lot !
There's the excellent Arcomedical one with user and maintenance manuals on it. Graseby are doing one for their new syringe pump (but I haven't got it). Spacelabs and Welch Allyn have also sent us CDs but I haven't looked at the spacelabs one so can't comment on what's on it.
I can't think of any others - but I'll check. I'll also ask one of the more computer literate chaps to identify how the information is encoded.

We looked at the possibility of putting scanned copies on the Trust's intranet but have been prevented by our IT and legal depatments. There is a copyright issue requiring us to get written permission from each supplier. Plus the resources to actually do it!

That seems strange to prevent us from putting them on an intranet site, surely the idea is to make the information available for all to read. I am in the process of starting to do the same and I have had no objections, and yes I have told them what I am doing. Does anyone have any electronic manuals for Corometrics Fetal Monitors ?, I am keen to do this so as previously said we need to sort this out and progress it. I will check what information I have and post it back. laugh
