Yes, Anthony, but surely you haven’t forgotten Hannis’ 1st. Rule?

Remember "Give them something to hate"? smile

Anyway, they’re not expats, are they?

Is any department manager taking the VRCT seriously because I’m sure you agree it will have major implications for the profession if it happens?

I mean mainly in the recruitment area of “job Qualification requirements”

It seams to have stalled but I would like it to happen I know it will be hard but at least it will mean that someone will be taking our professions seriously.

And by taking us seriously, I mean paying us more and not treating us like something that was kicked in off the street last time someone walked in.
I don’t care what qualifications are recognised and by who, as long as the recognition has actual meaning
Not just formal and not just experience. Both

And the only way this will happen is if it becomes a required standard for the job

Am I right in presuming you work in the NHS, leonius? If so, and sounding like you're not impressed with management there, why not consider a move to the Dark Side? By that I mean a private technical services, or equipment sales and servicing, company. Then you won't have to wait for some guy sweating on his pension to get off his butt, if you catch my drift. And you'd be limited only by time, and your own skills and aspirations. Good people are always in short supply, Mate, believe me. smile

Edit Reason: Minor snafu.

I'm sure you mean the proposed registration by HPC as VRCT is already here and has been for a number of years.

The proposed registration by HPC is a bit like a Cobra in a basket in the corner of the workshop with IPEM it's snake charmer!

When it rattles it's tail or the charmer pipes up it get's attention and everybody hopes they won't get caught when it strikes.

Although the snake seems to have gone to sleep recently and there's been no piping on from it's charmer!

Do you get the feeling that the VRCT et al are just trying to bore us into submission? If it was meant happen it would have by now. If you consider yourselves engineers or techincians, join the IET or similar professional organisation. The VRCT only works for NHS staff working in Medical Physics. If you decide to join the "dark side" then return to the NHS you will be scuppered.

Not just if you return in the future, grandparenting provision closed for those who joined after 1st Jan 2007, so unless a training scheme is in place or they've done an approved vocational degree it will be interesting times for those who joined after.
