Hi all, thank you for reading this, I am sure its been asked before, but after having had a quick search found nothing.
What monitoring solutions are there for patients in MRI ? I have an anesthetic system that is MRI safe (after parts have been swapped) and have a vent' that I believe to be safe.
Gasses, can you use wall supply ? or special cylinders ? Any help or what other people use would be usefull.

Our MRI has patient and anaesthetic agent monitoring supplied by Invivo based in Halifax Tel 01422 881620. They are the only supplier I know of selling monitoring specifically designed for use in MRI.
Thankyou, I had heard of this name but was unable to find any info, do you happen to have a number ? Draeger do a monitor as well and have asked for info on this.

We have invivo millennia monitors. The gas bench is single agent and the software has (or had?) a tendency of crashing. Ours have been upgraded to get rid of this problem but only time will tell.

Hi Not exactly relevant but maybe of tangential interest? Not sure if you are aware of ECRI Health Devices publication in Dec 2001. They have an interesting article on safe use of equipment in MR environments. The terms "MRI safe" and "MRI compatible" were discussed and it seems FDA, MDA and ECRI don't recommend total reliance on these terms alone without more details on the actual MR environment the equipment was tested in.

Schiller do an MRI compatable monitoring system up to 3 Tesla, including ECG, NIBP, SPO2, Invasive pressures, Temperature, Anaesthetic agent. Remote control via fibre optic or Blue tooth radio. Anaesthetic Agent is local to patient in MRI bore. Invivo Research anaesthetic agent remote in control room requires long line.

In my previous hospital we had an mri version of the Aestiva Trolley with s/5 monitor (In cage) on top. All parameter leads were mri proof (€€€€€). Monitor linked to the control room remote viewing

Be aware there have been a number of incidents using the technique of a non MRI compatable monitor in a faradic cage in the MRI environment around the World
