Thanks for that .
I agree with your comments that most of the jobs are in the North Island. That's where the main population is.My whife and i were out in the North Island last year . Great place just like the nicer parts of the UK but less crowded .You do think how the infrastructure exists with so few people and very litle industry?
We are off to the South Island next March and expect it to be really quiet .You did not say if you had visited before?
I think any job in hospital work in the South Island would mean covering several hospitals as they must be quite small?

Kind regards Pete.

No We have not visited yet.....flights megga bucks!!!!!
We have got relatives in Arrow Town so have got a good idea of the way of life and seen lots of phots. Also joined a free site called www.move2nz.com and attended a seminar in London. Run by a nice couple, lots of immigration info from members and experts, worth a view...

Hi Steve.
Yep the flights cost a lot and it's a long way .We did it last year in one go with just a re fuel stop for 2 hours ,so that was 12 hours and then 2 hours on rrhw ground then 12 hours in the air again !!!
We are going again next March to the South Island this time , but will do 2 stopovers on route .You get a chance to recover!
A word of caution regarding recruitment services I have enquired with several and they all appear to be not ver good at getting job leads to you.
You will need to pass the exam in basic electrical work before you can work on any equipment above 24 volts!! It is dead easy but they only hold it a couple of times a year in NZ.
The pension system in NZ is not that good .Don't expect the same as UK NHS. Your UK state pension can be paid to you in NZ but due to the commenwealth stuff it is paid to the NZ Gov and they give you it on a prorata basis .So any chance of you making money due to exchange rates in you favour forget it!
Other than that it is a great country not at all like AUZZI . Very nice people and sort of like stepping back 30 years but still most of the tech stuff!
If you have family i would try to use them to look out for jobs and stuff but be ready to go out for an interview at short notice and you will have to bare some of the cost yourself so i would recommend going alone.

Anyway best of luck
