What's that Darren ... you were in Government? Now I understand why the whole world seems to be have gone down the pan! wink

Meanwhile, seasoned Greybeards may (just perhaps) be more "effective", but the young guys are the future, whichever way you look at it.

Which volunteer positions are you referring to, by the way? In a Perfect World, there should be no need for volunteers, nor charities. Everything should be properly funded. If there is a job to be done (that is, a need), why should anyone be expected to work for zilch whilst others draw fat salaries?

Probably. I must admit that I'm a great supporter myself (in the moral sense) of the WRVS, the various Leagues of Friends, and all the rest. But I am also aware that others often take the p*ss out of good, honest, decent people such as those. In fact, it seems to me that to "get on" these days (as in, gouging an extortionate salary, usually from the Public Purse), you have to display the very reverse of those three admirable qualities! frown

I think I may have mentioned before instances where the League of Friends had gone to great efforts to raise money for "essential", "life-saving" etc. equipment only to see it dumped in the corridor at the back of Theatres less than six months later. No doubt we could all give such examples.

You may apply, though the opportunity for interview will be dependent on the number of applications received from the european community.

Hi Max, Only realised you moved to Addenbrookes. Sorry did not get chance to say goodbye. Perhaps we meet at a MDSS bash one day.
