Is anyone using the new blood pressure cuffs - where the tube clips onto the cuff...?

What do you make of them?

If you mean the ones from Welch Allyn we're about to trial them in two areas.

Can we assume you mean the FlexiPort?

It looks like they could indeed be "the answer". Let's hope so! smile

We are already using them and everyone is really happy with them. Check out http://www.bm-tech.co.kr/ for SPO2 cables and sensors, As Geoff would say (no affiliation) I have looked hard for a single company that can supply all the requirements and this is it.

We've been using these for a while. I can't say I've noticed any complaints, and they seem to pass during PMs.

Yes, they do save time and money. Has any hospital standardised to these new flexiport cuffs?

Our infection control peeps didn't like the idea of a hole in the cuff, when you take the flexiport off to move to the next patient when using them as single patient use, any thing could "drop" in. There is a cap but who is going to bother fitting it?

We got a few of these, and they seemed okay, but now Supplies have decided to go with Proact. I haven't witnessed any problems with the Flexiport, but they haven't been in long.

Lots of manufacturers are producing cuffs to cope with being washed, but I don't see much evidence that staff wash them. Thankfully, we have always had stock so that if we see a gungy cuff we can change it.

The Proact ones are interesting. We didn't see them (at this hospital, they probably did at our sister hospital) before Supplies made this choice, and they only have one tube. It will be interesting to see how well they can be adapted to fit things with two tubes, e.g. Critikon Dinamap style physiological monitors. whistle

Disposable would reduce the risk of contamination etc, except that it costs so much and I think that it is wasteful of resources. I would love to see a way of recycling things more often more safely. We throw away too much as a society anyway.
