Copied below is part of an email recieved today which should cover your question.
"Although the SpO2 appears to be the issue, the problem is actually a faulty main board. Unfortunately these do not come cheap and are currently priced at £636.76 each (part number 03900300).
We can supply a discount should you trade-in the old board. If you wish to do this, then the part number changes slightly to 03900300PX and the cost would be £420.13.
For reference a new monitor, part number 01020364, is currently £1795.00 each.
All prices are subject to VAT.
A handling/delivery charge at the rate applicable on the date of despatch (currently £8.45) will apply to any order below a goods value of £150 (excl. VAT). Above that value, handling and delivery will be free.
Minimum goods value requirement per order: £15.00 (excl. VAT).
Lead Time: 3-4 weeks.
Please let me know which way you want to go. If you want to discuss if further please call me direct on 01707 385220.
Kind regards.
Paul.

If you're thinking of binning it, Brian ... let me have it for one of the Charity Groups. Who knows, we (that is I) may even find the time to fix it!
But ... BER is usually set at an accumulated maintenance cost of 60% of replacement. So you've still got a way to go yet. Unless you've already spent a ton on that little monitor that you've not told us about! Ha, ha.

Geoff, as the new UK distributor for the CAS740/750 monitors I wondered if you might just clarify your justification in calling it a "crappy little monitor"?

Geoff, I'm afraid I cannot comment here about the prices for fear the moderators may remove my post.
I will respond about the product however, which is actually a particularly well-constructed American-made monitor. I can only assume you are thinking of something else.
If you, or anyone else for that matter, would like a demo, feel free to contact me directly.
