Hi Guys

The fault does persist when the machine is in the lab - well away from the pendant (if that is what you were referring to; "scusi" if I have misunderstood).

It is the larger 10" screen type, but I have swapped the LCD wires, so they were eliminated.

Still would have been nice to know that reinstalling the software might have had a positive outcome, because that must be far cheaper as a first line of attack than throwing away a whole board!

I will update you as soon as the new board arrives...

... not arrived yet?

Any SCSI devices in there? Could be.

And if that bus is not terminated ... there's your problem, right there! smile

Update time!

The board arrived, but despite an instruction on the order, had not been sent to the technical department for the software installation first. tut So I sent it there myself.

Then last week while I was on holiday, a call came in that the board was faulty and would not accept the installation so now I have to wait for the part to be reordered internally at Covidien.

Ho hum. rolleyes

"Scusi" was "excuse me" in Italian, not SCSI! Just in case that caused confusion... shades

Not really what we might call "impressive", then. frown

Ciao!

Got the new board today. Fitted and working perfectly.

Now I can see why Covidien wouldn't rework or accept it in part exchange. It has been completely redesigned!

Given the cost of redesigning and re-evaluating parts, it also goes some way toward explaining the cost of the new board. I'm sure most companies would avoid such a major change unless there was a particular need for it.

I'm happier now that the new board was necessary. And my ventilator is just a battery away from going back into service. The PPM fell due during the wait! rolleyes

How did you end up with a spare? Accidental double order, or double shipment?

It seems that Covidien were seriously short of these things at their warehouse, so when the first board failed, it caught them unawares.

As to the Haggis - I think this must have been intercepted at the Goods Bay. We've had no bother. Suspect one of the porters might have had it...

Hope you are not under a snowdrift up there. We had none forecast, but there was a coating on my car this morning.
