Plans to Conquer the World (or, the UK, at least) continue to be hampered somewhat due to lack of manpower!

The *B-Team is always on the look-out for good technicians of the can-do "hands-on" type. We have a pressing and immediate need for:-

Workshop-based Techs (two in the West of England, one in the Eastern Counties)
Service Engineers (based in the North-East of England, the North-West, and in Scotland)
Service Manager (based in the West of England, but mobile)

We are talking here about all kinds of medical (and veterinary) kit, by the way. "Traditional" fault-finding, repairs, servicing, refurbishing ... and all good stuff like that. "Anaesthetics to X-Rays" as we always used to say. Also some opportunities to do a bit for the charity groups, if you were to be so-minded.

Like every other repairs and servicing company on the Dark Side, we would love to find blokes able to "hit the ground running", but two of the workshop-based posts could also suit guys with a (non-medical) electronics or servicing background, who are willing and able to assimilate the idiosyncrasies of medical equipment in reasonably short order. That assumes two points:- one, that the initial pay-packet may need to reflect that, and (two) that they wouldn’t mind being mentored by blokes such as Yours Truly! Ha, ha.

OK, what we have here is a small, enthusiastic team, where everyone has an opportunity to make their contribution count, for the benefit of the Company as a whole. Anyone interested should PM me (as the Gatekeeper) in the first instance. Tell me what you're looking for and what you can "bring to the table", as it were. Don't be shy!

Salaries? The going rate(s). Hours? As many as you like. Perks? None to speak of ... but you would be provided with anything you need to get the job done, as it were. Opportunities? Limitless!

"Service Manager" does not really conjure up the full extent of the role we need to fill there. What we really want is someone to act as right-hand man to our MD, able to take charge of the talents already existing within the team. Stock control is another area that comes to mind. As does planning. There could be a training role as well. Some sales work (used equipment, some new equipment, service contracts and such). Dealing with customers, overseeing service contracts, and all the rest. There’s a lot of scope there, especially for a younger man with a bit of energy. Frankly, I would do it myself, if I wasn’t so busy fixing kit (not so young, either)!

Whilst I'm on, I may as well mention that all positions could also be part-time, short-time ... or (even) at a push, as-and-when required. We would also be interested to hear from any of the "greybeards" out there who may be interested in forming a cadre for occasional "one-off" jobs or special projects. No doubt some of you will recall the infamous "High-Tech Teams" (so-called) used on the Regional Biomed Maintenance Projects for the MOH out in Saudi! Something along those lines, then. In short, to provide specialist back-up as and when required. For useful, flexible people, everything is possible!

Note to Huw and John:- rest assured that, should this appeal meet with success, then a suitable donation shall be made to the ebme coffers (or, perhaps, sponsorship of the website)! Trust me, I’m Geoff (h’mmm, now where did I hear that sort of thing before?). smile

* That is, "B" for biomed.
