OK, Dave. This might sound like a daft question ... but is it the work you want, or the money? smile

As I am apparently perceived by some as a Rag and Bone Man I make no apologies in suggesting that there may be (and, in fact, are) more than one ways to skin a cat*.

So ... how much do you need (and, if you like, why)? Answers by PM would be advised, but on here if you really want the Whole World to feel your pain (as it were) ... and, who knows, a general outpouring of sympathy (for which the British, and in particular the English, are so well known).

* Before I am subjected to the wrath of so-called Animal Lovers, please realise that I am using a "turn of phrase" here (you Saddos).

Fair enough. But take a tip or two from Uncle Geoff:-

1) Make up your mind what it is you're trying to do.
2) Differentiate between wants and needs.
3) Make a plan (including, if necessary, a budget).
4) Cut out non-essentials and live within your means.
5) Simplify. Sell off anything you don't actually need.

That is, "cut your cloth" ... and stick with it!

All of which is not always as easy as it sounds, of course. smile

Work per se may not be (is invariably not) the answer. Look at me, for example:- I have plenty of work, but very little money. What I actually need is time (and that's something no-one can buy).

Buying cheap and selling dear can do the trick, however, if you have a flair for that sort of thing (and I don't, I would be the first to admit).

As we all know, the banks don't help any more (if they ever did), and saving is actually a waste of money (interest is less than inflation). You are better off investing in something that is likely to appreciate in value (like a fine old British motorcycle, for instance) ... or even, dare I say it, tools and test equipment (and the like) with a view to conducting proper biomedical engineering services (yes, there is a continuing need).

Good Luck, then! smile

The trouble with that idea ... is that everyone needs a little rest now and then (even if it's just to get the dhobi done)! smile
