Oh went there for the Sigma 6000 training course. They were to be introducing a Sigma 8000 to europe but I never saw any. This was 1996 / 7.

Anyone getting involved?

Latest word "down under" is that they are going release the new 1.7 s/w by doing a swap out of all the existing pumps for brand new ones rather than upgrade the current fleet. This is expected to start around Easter 2011.

Has a slight "Alladin" feel to it I think, you know, "new lamps for old" and all that.

As many of you would be aware, Baxter were required by the FDA to "replace or refund" all of the pumps in use in the USA (some 200,000 I understand). To deal with this they purchased another pump company (Sigma)and ramped up the output.

Today from the FDA is FDA Sigma Class 1 recall

I have never seen a Sigma in the flesh, but it looks like yet another one bought in by Baxter. Some folk may not be aware that Baxter has traditionally always been what used to be known as a "catalogue company". That is, their kit is usually made by some other OEM (eg, Sharp, Sigma et al).
