It's my first post, so thanks for reading. I find this forum really interesting with fantastic transfer of knowledge.
I would appreciate any response, again thank you in anticipation.
I'm looking to move into medical engineering and would like to use my instrumentation control and automation experience in the water industry for a suitable career change.
In my search I would like to know who the main companies that provide water treatment maintenance services , typically for renal dyalsis and the likes.
I'm unsure if this work is often contracted out to external companies or do you NHS engineers carry out the work.

That's a good call by Huw, but please don't desert us here (if only to let us know how you get on)!

I think Elga are one of the main players in this sector. You could always try the Dialysis equipment manufacturers i.e. Gambro, Fresenius & B.Braun etc.

Have you tried a post of the Association of Renal Technologists web site and forum?

There are a number of companies out there that do water treatment Capital water, Elgar and Purite being some of them, but the link to the ART is a good start.
Both Gambro amd Fresenius do manufacture water treatment plants.
and there is Aquaboss too, but im not sure who supplies that in the UK.
The main problem in this sector is the sub-contracting of the installation, which leads to a large number of problems.

We have both the Gambro and Elgar systems here with no problems with both. One thing if this is for renal you have to look at, is it going to be used for HDF. If so you will need to stipulate this and go for a system that has twice the output you need.(expansion needs) Also ask for an integrated chlorine meter.

We removed the Gambro and now have DWA for main (Nephro-safe) Back-up and portable, very reliable and the construction is open architecture very easy for maintenance purposes.
