Yes ... a nice looking selection of kit, but all in the United States. 110 volts working may be a problem. As could be shipment charges (and some vendors may only ship within the US). And there again, there's always the question of missing accessories, repairs and, er ... calibration! I have found that biomed test equipment pops up on eBay only rarely (and sometimes only when the seller doesn't realise what it is)! @Mr_Peeps: I may be able to help you (see your PM's).

For those without access to eBay, the first item is a used one of these, and the seller has it at a "Buy It Now" price of £ 450. The second is a used one of these. This time at a BIN price of £ 150. However, no mention is made of the cable-connector. Location is given as Manchester. I wonder if it is anyone we know?

Here is another source of test equipment for hire. Their catalogue is worth taking a look at (hopefully over a cup of tea)!

I have also been wondering about that, Malcolm. But "badboybio"* doesn't seem to be too sharp when it comes to checking out his messages on this forum, I'm afraid. Or his emails, for that matter. * Are "all the clues there"? I'm wondering about that as well!

So. I contacted the seller yesterday, but the analyser was already sold. This way so my request for offers remains apt.

The Bio-Tek QED-6 I have in mind is still listed on eBay at the moment. The "Buy It Now" price is £ 500, but you can also make an offer. So far, it looks like one offer has been placed. But don't worry. No doubt others shall be listing their wares right here soon enough.

I have often wondered where all this medical and test equipment on eBay and the like comes from. Especially that for sale in the UK. How many individuals have test or medical equipment that is theirs to sell or has it fallen off the back of a passing EBME department? Stock that the hospital/department has finished with and is "thrown away"? I am not accusing anyone here of this, I am just curious as to the source of eBay equipment in the UK. RoJo

I know this come as somewhat of a surprise to some ... but there is a "private sector" out there, you know! And I have yet to hear of any of the test equipment vendors refusing to accept money. How many individuals have test or medical equipment that is theirs to sell Well, I do for starters. And, as far as I know, none of it has "fallen off the back of lorry", EBME or any other. I might add that I don't recall seeing any used test equipment with serial numbers conveniently missing (so stuff can be traced ... especially by the calibration shops). Here's another surprise (how many can you handle in one go?):- there are also such things as auctions. Ex-NHS, ex-military, etc., etc. You buy your test kit, repair it if need be, get it calibrated ... and Hey Presto (Robert's your father's brother). Lastly, I have come across many (and I mean many) items of medical equipment (including test equipment) being sold at auction where the hospital obviously couldn't be arsed to remove their asset labels. The only conclusion I can draw there is that they cannot be too worried about any potential "come-backs"! Once I even alerted my Old Mates in one NHS biomed shop about a particular item that I came across being loaded into a container on its way out to [censored]. Guess what? According to their "database" the kit concerned was still sitting in Outpatients (yes, so much for their PM programme, then).

Two surprises in one post - can my heart stand it? Get the defib ready and make sure the operator is well trained. RoJo

With yet another Bank Holiday Weekend in prospect, and with wet weather forecast (naturally), I really need to get stuck in and have a good sort-out of my residual bits and pieces. Having threatened (and, indeed, tried) many times (since at least one occasion I clearly recall back in the mid 1980's) to "draw a veil over medical equipment", this time I might really go for it, I reckon. You know, in order to "pursue other projects". Anyway, I digress (?):- I have a few items that I shall list later (if Huw so permits). I may also take a few pictures, just in case some of the stuff ends up listed on eBay. But (in short), I have a decent Bio-Tek 601-Pro (series) EST, plus a couple of Rigel 233's (one of which works OK, the other is faulty). I also have a Bender u601 EST, which works when it feels in the mood. Also a couple of IDA-1's that have always worked OK for me, plus an old S&W defib tester and an Eschmann ETS-1 test box. And ... a few odds and ends like signal generators, and stuff like that. This kit has been used mostly for checking out donated equipment in interesting places like cow-sheds. But it seems that even that "market" has dried up now, and so I hardly ever use the kit these days. Nothing really sensational, then. But I get tired of carting this stuff around each time I have to make a move. So, once again, I'm having to "simplify, simplify" (... and how many times is that now). If anyone has a couple of hundred quid that they can spare, then now's your chance (that is, catch me whilst I'm in the mood). Otherwise, I might just bung it all in the next container I see passing by on its way out to Africa (or wherever).

I forgot to mention my Timeter RT-200 (which is also in good shape). It was never fitted with the RS-232 interface. And (of course) is a few years out of cal! If someone wants to collect this kit, which goes as a "job lot", then that would be fine. At present I am not far from junction 10 of the A1(M). Otherwise, as long as the weather is nice, I am prepared to travel up to 100 miles to deliver. Anything further than that would need to be a "meet me somewhere" proposition (motorway services, or some such place). And ... I refuse to venture anywhere within the M25 circle.

Does anyone have any information about the SPC-1? Yet another "blast from the past" that I heard mentioned recently. But I had never come across this one before. Does anyone have one (and/or the software) that they would be happy enough to wave goodbye to?

Also a couple of IDA-1's that have always worked OK for me, plus an old S&W defib tester and an Eschmann ETS-1 test box. This stuff is still up for grabs - together with the Timeter RT-200. If anyone wants it (on an "all or nothing" basis) I would be happy to consider any reasonable offer. As I am prepared to deliver the stuff (or meet up somewhere) such offer(s) would need to exceed my petrol costs! Please note, however, that the earlier statement about junction 10 of the A1(M) no longer applies (but the bit about the M25 still stands)! Perhaps I should mention that (as usual) I'm also willing to haggle. For instance, I could be willing to swap the stuff for a half-decent PC (or even - possibly - some other "interesting" item or items).
