Here are typical figures that I've heard mentioned lately:-
1) Job advert placed
2) Applicants:- 70
3) "No-hopers":- many
4) Shortlisted:- 6
5) No-shows at interview:- 2
6) Visa problems:- 1
7) Tech offered position:- 1
8) Tech changes his mind:- 1
9) "Second choice" offered position ... else back to 1) above
Hopefully a tech gets hired eventually, but one wonders if s/he was (is) the "best tech for the job"!
