Tejas, How do you know this? I asked so many Bio medical engineers in the field and they clearly told me That it is part of shortage list not by job name but by category.

I'm not sure about any official "shortage list", but as an biomedical engineer trying to start my career, I can till you that there is no shortage of people for the posts available. Seems to be about 10 people applying for every post (particularly within the NHS) that I've applied for.

Thanks Nerobot, I know the tough competition in the market. I am trying to know, whether employer can sponsor a candidate under tier 2 visa category (Using shortage occupation list).

Here are typical figures that I've heard mentioned lately:- 1) Job advert placed 2) Applicants:- 70 3) "No-hopers":- many 4) Shortlisted:- 6 5) No-shows at interview:- 2 6) Visa problems:- 1 7) Tech offered position:- 1 8) Tech changes his mind:- 1 9) "Second choice" offered position ... else back to 1) above Hopefully a tech gets hired eventually, but one wonders if s/he was (is) the "best tech for the job"!

You are lucky if only 10 ppl apply for the job you are applying. Others have to compete with 100s of applicants.

9) "Second choice" offered position ... else back to 1) above
If that repeats more than twice, then point 6)visa problems is eliminated. How? ask the HR. They know lot many rules and also how to bend them.

I have gone through the official national shortage occupation list. I saw two categories which is given below.
OCCUPATION-Engineering Technicians (3113) JOB TITLE-commissioning engineer
OCCUPATION-Medical and dental technicians (3218) JOB TITLE-nuclear medicine technologist, radiotherapy technologist
Which of the categories comes under bio medical engineering field or medical electronics field?

Yeah, 10 isn't too bad. When I was interviewed for Medical Physics, over 35,000 people applied for 800 jobs. Think that's the most I've had to compete with.
