Its an issue at my end Geoff - the server is actually my laptop and it seems to have a mind of its own weather it wants to talk to anyone else or not - yet another reason why I want to replace it! i will try again when I am not as busy - i only have two days left here then I am off to Tonga so it may be from there

You're right, Mike. frown

de rigueur:- "required" (French).

Actually that was two on here in one day. Mea culpa ... and darned sloppy work.

As I was saying to an Old Buddy of mine just the other day, I have decided that I may have to step away from working on anything critical now ... I'm making too many [censored]-ups these days. Over the last 37 years I've managed to avoid causing too much damage (as far as I am aware), but it seems I can't really trust myself any more.

Sad but true. frown

It's best that I stick to computer code* now ... less chance of catastrophe that way (I hope). Mind you, it doesn't help replying to posts when you're already gaga from sitting at the keyboard(s) for way too long!

* Which is one way of trying to remain reasonably compos mentis, I suppose.

I wondered what it was you were trying to upload there, Andy ... and this is what I found (by inspecting the webpage for those who may also be wondering):-

Code:
http://C:\Users\Andy\Pictures\dress.png

I'm not sure that a .png file can be handled here (how about that, Huw)? To be honest, I'm not too sure about the syntax you've used, either (in my experience, URL's usually need "forward-slashes" [/] throughout). think

Email the image to me if you like, Andy, and I'll get it pinned up for you. Better yet, send it to Huw! smile

What's happening, is that Andy is trying to reference a 'local' file via the http protocol.

In other words, the file (.png, .htm, .jpg, .whatever) needs to be on a server connected to the internet in order to access it.

If such a file is not being 'served' (such as in Andys case where it remains on his desktop) then it needs to be uploaded via our own file manager to be served from our own server.

Or, uploaded to a picture sharing site - or sent to me directly etc. etc.

@Andy. Click on the button below 'Switch to Full Reply Screen' to see the options available to you. (Or send me a pm to explain things further smile )

Thanks Huw and Geoff - I have made several booboos backslashes being the least of them blush

I cant access the file manager at the moment - the internet here keeps throwing page errors up - but a lot of sites do here and later they dissapear again and I am back to normal. whistle

I will keep trying. At the very least I am learning more about the internet
