I have a TSI certifier FA for sale - it comes with a high flow analyzer (needs calibrating) and carry case. Its in Very good condition and works well - it has been tested against a calibrated one to give same results.

As you must remember, the auctions at Malmesbury are not much cop for small "one offs" like this.

And by the time it sold (which would depend very much upon who was actually in attendance), once all the "deductions" have been made, how much is Brian going to be left with? Answer:- not much.

Hilditch is great for hospital clearances, large job lots, and (sometimes) piles of junk!

No, a private sale is the way to go with this one. Or (as I have already hinted), as it is a small, easily packed item, I believe that an auction eBay would be worth a go.

There is a market there (on eBay). Worldwide, even.

For one item like that, I agree EBay would more then likely be the easiest solution while keeping more of the money, saying that EBay do take more then they should, even more if you use paypal to collect the money after the sale.

With EBay at least he can sell the item where it is rather then having to go to Hilditch which is not in a central location.

EBay does have a medical/surgical audience too.. as you know of my farther Geoff, he has sold a few forceps and alike and got some repeat customers using it.. so.. Ebay has its uses indeed.

As we know, some folk buy at auction (eg, Hilditch) ... and then sell on line (eg, on eBay).

The nice thing about eBay is the amount of exposure that your item gets. Or rather can get, as long as you categorise it properly, and describe it well. It's all about selling after all, so there needs to be a bit of effort.

But (luckily) specialist stuff (such as Brian was selling) will effectively "sell itself", as long as potential buyers get to hear about it. So yes, a post right here on the forum (to alert anyone who may be interested), and then a placement on eBay is probably as good a way as any.

But I believe that Huw may not be happy about links to eBay (if my memory serves me well). Huw?

And, just to be fair, there are alternative auctions (both live and on-line) as well. But I believe that I have mentioned the two that are best known.
