The manual I have talks about "CPU board initialisation for Version 0.65/0.67/0.71 software" on page 7-29 or thereabouts.
They are talking about taking this action after the NV-RAM has been replaced (possibly in response to error codes 12, 13, 33 or 38). Is this what you are referring to?
It's a real "song and dance" (and it makes you wonder what sort of
zonk designs this stuff) and similar (but needless to say, different) steps are listed for other software versions.
