Hello,
I am asking for a help in the area of medical staff training.
We use a self assesment form for staff, to ensure we capture all the devices they use, we use our asset inventory as a basis, which is easy for staff working in specific areas. I am trying to develop a self assesment form for medical staff and as a DGH i am trying to make is service specific.
could i ask has anyone else tackled this and any guidance would be greatly appreciated. i know the docs is gonna be a difficult group and any pitfalls and guidance would be apprecated!!!
i would really like to see an example of someone elses form if one exists?
kindest regards,
Tracy

Start with a list of all the equipment types available within the hospital, with the user's name etc. on the top. Manufacturer : Model : Description (class or type). Then *trim the list (delete records) as necessary in accordance with the target audience (that is, limit it to the kit they are likely to encounter). Two columns of tick boxes against each equipment on the list:- One headed:- "Trained"** The other:- "Training needed" A simple Excel spreadsheet should do it! * You could write a script (set of rules, algorithm ... whatever) for this if you wanted to go that far. ** You could add date(s) etc. if you want (to be inserted by them - or you - as required).

ESR = Electronic Staff Record. IPDR = Individual Personal Development Record
Another load of TWAs!!! (or FWA for the second one)

Hello Tracy,
To find out further information about Medical Devices Training. You could join the National Association of Medical devices Educators and Trainers (NAMDET). This organisation meets regularly to discuss Medical Devices Management and also regularly hosts presentations from various assessors i.e NHSLA, CQC nad MHRA. There is a wealth of knowledge at these seminars and it is very good for networking. To join you have to register with Training For Innovation (TFI), then register with NAMDET. TFI provide the funding for NAMDET. If you want further information, then PM.

Hello Johnny John John,
Many thanks for your comments.
I have been a member of NAMDET for about a year (since Jan 11) and in that time they have only held one meeting (June) in the midlands, which was during school hols - so I sadly couldn't attend. Which has been a bit of a disapointment.
I am hoping to attend the workshop in London in December.
Kindest regards,
Tracy
