Hi All. What products do you commonly use to clean class 2 medical devices when they come into your service process? Bleach solution and isopropanol are two that we use, what about you guys in the field?

What type of equipment are we talking about here, I wonder. Just the stuff on your website?

I ask because it really all depends on two things:-

1) The type of crud involved
2) The level of cleaning required
- disinfection
- thorough general cleaning
- a "quick wipe over" ... etc.

Myself, I use "whatever it takes" ... but have a preference for the "common or garden" varieties of cleaning products (you know, the type available at the local shops or hardware store). Or better still, a box of "Alco-wipes" borrowed from the nurses. It works out cheaper that way.

And, of course, in general there's a lot for be said for good old "warm soapy water"!

Meanwhile, I would have thought that IPA would have been a bit too severe for your type of kit. You would probably get better results using *Tesco's "anti-bacterial wipes" followed by a whiff of Mr.Sheen, I should imagine.

But here's a question for you:- what about the BP cuffs? How do you deal with those?

Policy and Procedure # ? BME will not accept any equipment that has blood,snot or any other contaminant for repair, the cleaning is the responsibility of the end-user. If the equipment becomes 'dirty' in the workshop it will be cleaned with the appropriate materials (normal wipes are sufficient to remove the grease) before being returned.

Remember isoprop wipes are for disinfecting and are no good at cleaning. You need to get the dirt off first. Where I used to work they went away from isoprop wipes and went over to detergent ones.
Quick easy and, more importantly, effective.

I use trigene wipes they clean and disinfect at the same time and they are good at cleaning(not too wet)alcohol wipes are ok but they don't get rid of c-diff.
