Hi there,

Im looking to see if anybody, like me, has been let down by their broadband supplier (for home use).

I joined the fabulous "Free" TalkTalk broadband offer in April, and was finally connected in August. This "Free" offer involved me changing my line rental to TalkTalk and paying £30 to connect. I have had on/off problems from the start (Modem crashing, Having to re-instsall software weekly, etc) But 11 days ago it died. \:\(

It goes to the "Verifying Username and Password" page and hangs. Then comes back with "Error 721: Could not connect to remote computer".

Several hours, and emails, and calls, and re-installs later - NOTHING!

I have spent hours on the phone to TalkTalk but they keep me hanging on (On average 45mins) before cutting me off!

One other thing of note is that on the day that my broadband died, my digital cordless phone stopped working. When I plugged my old analogue phone in, surprisingly it worked. I tested the digital phone, but found nothing wrong! I kept testing the digital phone by plugging it back into my line everyday, and on Monday it started working again. How strange? But my internet acces is still non existent.

Does anybody have experience of this kind of problem, or know of any way I could get out of this mess!

Any help is appreciated.

Alan

I was tempted by the TalkTalk offer initally, but after searching on the net I'm glad I didn't take it up.
Not much help but try looking on here: uk.telecom.broadband and searching for "Talk Talk" - I belive they've been on Watchdog recently!

I'm with Tiscali and haven't had any probs.

I say 'go with BT', they may be pricey but they know what they are doing, the helpdesk isn't in Mogadishu and they come with all the extras and security you'll need. Outside the 'The big Ten' ISPs there are always going to be issues - they are dirt cheap for a reason. Peanuts = Monkeys!

I'm with wanadoo wireless. \:\) No probs. Security via wep key - once entered - the PC / laptop saves it so you don't have to mess around re-entering it.

Looks like there is going to be even more mayhem in the near future for Talk Talk customers and AOL subscribers when Carphone Warehouse completes its purchase of AOL.
There was a good article in the Sunday Times last week suggesting that customers shop around and not accept poor customer service such as with Talk Talk.

Hi Alan
This will not help you get your BB up & running but at least you know you are not alone.

Aaaaaaagh!!! BT - spit!
I spent 2 months without a connection. 2 months losing the will to live as I did the rounds of call centre after call centre both in this country and in the sub-continent. The trouble with BT is it doesn't do joined-up business, or even communication. It's basically an umberella company under which the various organisations exist as stand-alone enterprises, which do not seem to share information.
Sorry I'll have to stop I'm becoming hypertensive. I'll have to go and sit down in a darkened room. :ninja: :ninja:
