To try and answer the questions,-

My deputy/supervisor/team leader has lodged an appeal - although officially it's being called a request for re-submission to an evaluation panel.

The R&R payment for Estates Officers may be £2,800 but I'm trying to get confirmation of this from my trade union - who I've been told have negotiated it nationally ! I'll let you know.

To ask some of my own -

Stew. Our Electricians and other craftsmen have come out on Band 4. This doesn't seem to have raised any eyebrows here, so presumably Band 4 is typical for them. That should be a strong enough argument for getting your MTO3 + 3 re-graded ! What did they score you down on ?

Eddie. How can you have more than one section manager in EBME ? Have you got a very large department ?

C2VTR. What's this Core Review Group ? I've never heard of them.

Roy,

Looking at Eddie's job application pack for the 2 entry-level vacancies he has in his department it's apparent to me that the job specification and job description is pitched higher than my own as a Senior EBME Engineer (AfC JD). I assume that the job descriptions/specifications of Eddie and his colleagues have been pitched just right to get the grades that one would expect of experienced individuals. No doubt Eddie's department is going to be one that retains all its current staff and is able to take on new recruits with experience post AfC.

Hi Roy

From our internal A4C site:

"Core Review – Within the next week the results will go to a Core Review meeting where two staff side and two management representatives, trained in Job Matching and Evaluation, will discuss the results of the matching panel and quality check the results for consistency and reasoning behind the decisions made. If the job was matched with a national profile then it will be held until the job family (other jobs of a similar nature or area) is complete"

I assume this is where any glaring inconsistencies would show themselves, however I am not sure if evaluations/matches are reviewed at a national or local level.

We have been told that after we have matched a job our results go to a local (Trust) consistency panel. If they agree with our matching they then go to the SHA and then to a National panel.

Has anybody who has been matched been given their relavent factor levels. If these could be put on this thread it would be useful for comparison and to give ammunition others.

Hi guys and gals........ In answer to your questions:

I've got seven techs in my dept. We look after our Trust (500 bed DGH) and three PCTs.

2 sections managers are: 1 for our Trust and 1 for the PCTs.
We have 3 specialists (2 electronic and 1 electro-mechanical).
We have 1 agency temp (MTO2/ 3 but costs me MTO5* for last 3 yrs).
Our senior tech an MTO5*** (Service Manager) and will be employed on the Tecnical Manager profile.
We will be employing 2 new starters (MTO2s or below!).
And then, there's me.

Have I hyped up the JDs? - No, Ive used the English lanuage and the the NHS Job Evaluation Handbook (2nd ed.). Are my techs. doing the same as any other techs. at equalivant grades throughout the NHS? - Yes!

I just making sure they get a decent wage.

The moment our AfC marks are out, I'll try and place them on this website with the JDs, if it will help.

My apology, in advance, if the quote offends..........
