Knackered, opinionated, and old-fashioned biomed with over thirty years experience at various levels seeks something to help pass the time. A lone-wolf troubleshooter (…no, not troublemaker!) used to carrying out work that others prefer not to have a go at!

Short term, or dross tasks present no problem, remote areas or unusual tasks considered. Out-of-hours and/or weekend work is OK.

In UK, payment can be arranged through well-known agents. Can travel anywhere. Overseas work preferred!

Semi-retirement is all very well, but it gets a bit tedious after a while! \:\)

You know me, Tony – best to be up-front about things (…honesty is the best policy, etc.).

Anyway, I won’t be holding my breath. Know of anything interesting in the offing? \:\)

…still looking.

I’ll give it to the end of the month, then admit defeat and head off to the hills, I reckon! \:\)

Hi Geoff,

How's it going? Any luck yet?
What do you mean troubleshooter not troublemaker that's not what I remember when you were at North Midd. (only joking - that's my job!)
By the way, they've finally replaced you with another agency guy. Anyway, come back all is forgiven.

Ian
(PS Thanks for your recent e mail. The delivery of the resistors is correct, I'll let you know what the values are. Although, I lied about you ordering 10,000 and bankrupting our hospital, the management have done that themselves.)
\:D :smilewink:

Hey Ian, you little tinker you! But I can hardly admit (in open forum) to being a trouble maker, now can I?

Thanks for giving me this marketing opportunity, anyway, Old Buddy. How could they replace me (seeing that I’m irreplaceable, that is)? Cheaper, perhaps?

Yes, I’m “on a promise” at various locations (which may not be disclosed here), and will have something to do soon, inshallah. But regarding “come back, all is forgiven” - I’m not sure that I could gain anything more in addition to the jolly experience I had with you guys the last time!

But while I’m on, kindly allow a quick word on behalf of “the agency engineer”. It’s not always easy, you know, coming in to a new environment and running as soon as you hit the ground. And remember, too, that the agency guy has to actually work, rather than get involved in any of the many diversions that regular staff can get caught up in. Also, if the agency guy gets sick and can’t come in, then he doesn’t get paid. And, lastly, don’t forget that what you might see on the invoice is not what the agency guy finally ends up with anyway. Having said all that, personally, I doubt that I could work any other way! \:\)

I find myself looking forward to warmer weather. Guess I must be getting old, eh? Either that or I’m still missing the desert! But spring will surely be on its way, and so with renewed vim and vigour (?) I shall continue my search for involvement in worthwhile biomed ventures. If anyone has any interesting proposals, ideas, or dreams better get in touch by email or Private Message through this website. I would especially like to hear from “hands-on” types with an entrepreneurial streak who are committed to delivering quality biomed technical services anywhere in the world. How does that sound? \:\)
