Hearty best wishes to all ... on the happy occasion of St.George's Day! \:\)

(just in case you didn't realise...) St.George is the patron saint of Aragon, Canada, Catalonia, China, England, Ethiopia, Georgia, Greece, Montenegro, Palestine, Portugal, Russia, and Serbia, as well as the cities of Amersfoort, Beirut, Ferrara, Freiburg, Genoa, Ljubljana, and Moscow, as well as a wide range of professions and organisations (and, indeed, syphilis sufferers). He came from Cappadocia, in Anatolia, and would never have set foot in England (unlike, perhaps, Joseph of Arimathea)! ;\)

History first links George with England on that other famous day (that of St.Crispin), when upon (in 1415) the Battle of Agincourt took place. Yet another "finest hour"!

Lastly, let's not forget that William Shakespeare (surely one of the most famous of Englishmen?) was born, and also died, on this same date. The 23rd April (1564 and 1616, respectively).

As St. George was Turkish, after a few pints celebrating this special day, finish it off with a kebab.

Yes lets have a proper English celebration for us English.

I'm not sure what form the celebration would need to take or what it needs to involve however my best guess is that it would have to involve drinking warm beer in the rain.

I see that 10 Downing Street is flying St.George's flag today, the first time since Euro 96!! (not sure if there's a connection there).

Savour the name England while you can. According to a recent EU document England is to be split into three regions,Atlantic Region,Manche Region,North Sea Region, and The English Channel becomes The Channel Sea.

That nonsense has been talked about for a while ... but no way! Remember Crécy, Agincourt, Trafalgar ... \:\)

I predict that (within my lifetime, inshallah), England will be out of the E.U. (let the Welsh, the Scots, and the Ulstermen speak for themselves)!

Anyway, I thought that Manche was Normandy? What are you trying to do, Dicky ... wind me up, Mate? On today, of all days!
