Hi

I have just opened a box of various Masimo SpO2 probes that contained a copy of the "Accessory Warranty Policy" in which it states;

"Masimo guarantees to the initial purchaser that each new accessory will be free from workmanship or material defects for a period of (6) six months form the shipping date plus (1) month to account for storage and shipping times".

In addition to this the piece of thick paper stating "DO NOT DISCARD" attached to the lead has to be intact and any items replaced under warranty will not restart a new warranty period".

How do they get away with this?

Surely anyone with an ounce of confidence in thier product would offer at least a 12 month warranty. Perhaps I've just answered my own question!

Gets down of rant.

Mick

From what I have seen, they all basically cover themselves this way. By all means investigate altenative suppliers but do not be surprised if this proves fruitless.

Has anybody seen the video showing a masimo unit displaying a pulse whilst a tourniquet has been inflated on the same arm?

I have seen this video and asked Masimo about it. I think due to the pressure exerted by blood flow after occlusion made by tourniquet results in the displaying of a pulse as there is no return path for blood. Masimo showed me their video in reaction to Nellcor's. Masimo’s video shows the Masimo oximeters identifying the tiniest of signals and even reading when an arterial line starts to fail! which is not in the case of Nellcor.
