I would like to know if there is anyone out there who verifies the accuracy of these scales in house. Currently, our estates dept. have a contract with a third party company to verify the accuracy of patient weighing scales, but I would like to know if any of the EBME Depts check these scales, and how they do so.

We always used to check our own (using plastic containers of various capacities), remembering that 1 litre of water weighs 1 kg. That was back in yesteryear, however, so no doubt you need to be "certified" to carry out such high-tech tasks these days! \:\)

I know of Biomed departments that have had the local trading standards people do some. I don't know if every TS would be willing to though. I'm fairlt sure they would have the capability, as they check scales in shops, delivery of fuel pumps in forecourts etc. Just a thought.

Was that normal water or heavy water? ;\)

I was in a meeting this morning where scales and trading standards were discussed. I didn't know that we were trading in patients! \:o

Something to do with 'PbR' payment by results.

Evian, of course, John!

Meanwhile, I think we've been here recently. \:\)
