Hello all,

This is a test to measure the amount of hydrogen contained in a patient's breath sample. This is measured by first giving the patient a sugary solution to drink, which then reacts with the bacteria in the bowel and releases hydrogen, which is in the patients breath.

Does anyone have a written procedure for these tests, how often are breath samples taken, every 10, 15 minutes ? over what period 3hrs ?

Also, can two patients be tested at once, as long as the unit is zeroed every time ?

What results can be expected ? For a positive case would it be a rise, followed by a tapering off ?

Any help or information would be really useful.
Andrew.
