Latin for "thumbwheel switches", Jim?
I first came across a Vickers IP-3 at a British Military Hospital in Germany (Rinteln) in the late '70's (but we only had a few syringe pumps in those days). We also had a couple of Tekmar peristaltic infusion pumps (Tekmar was taken over soon after by IMED).
"Treonic" was a registered trademark found on all Vickers Medical pumps ... see

There was a company back in the mid '60's and early '70's called Meltec who used to make leak detectors for dialysis systems. They also used the brand name "Treonic" and I'm now wondering if they were the OEM for the first IP series of syringe pumps; in other words, they may have been swallowed up by the (then) mighty Vickers company (rather like Wellmed was bought by IVAC to kick off the successful evolution of P-series syringe pumps).
Or there again, maybe the name recalls that the first IP was Vickers' third attempt at using up all those thumbwheel switches they must have bought in (
tre being Italian for "three").
