With all this interest in your job descriptions are you going to help the Trusts over-spend with a bit of income generation by charging a fee for all these JD copies. laugh

Yet to be graded - JAQ and writers cramp here I come.

My spelling is not bad. I am typing this on a Medigenic keyboard and I blame that for all my typos.

I find it very interesting that people are still requesting to see other job descriptions, especially as I understood that the process was meant to be complete and implemented by October 2005.
Is this because:
a) Many people are peeved with their gradings and require some ammunition with which to appeal?
b) There are managers out there who have realised that their staff have actually done very poorly/very well and they require these other J.D.s to ensure that they can justify the low/high bandings?

Or am I being too cynical???

Hello to everyone who's asked for my JD, and there have been a lot of you!!

It appears to me that very few jobs have been matched and even fewer people are willing to discuss results.
Perhaps i'm very naive, but i've been very disapointed with the lack of response from others who have been matched.

QUOTE:

Does anyone know if these massive variations will be addressed nationally by the Core Review Group?

Does such a thing exist? Will they disclose any findings?

The time scales to AFC have changed so frequently it's not surprising that Trusts have been slow to respond. With a larger wages bill anticipated they were never going to rush.

At this trust our draft outlines of KSF have to be submitted by the end of september. At this point the whole trust will have matched (except non-matches and JAQ ).

To protect the privacy of my colleagues I am unable to discuss their results, sorry.

Tracy

p.s. send me a personnel message if you want a JD.

Results from York: We are a department of 13 paid on Estates Officer grades. Manager (EO3), 2 Renal techs (EO3), 2 Anaesthetics techs (EO2), 6 Electronics (EO2), one basic electronics (EO1) and one general assistant (ATO). We have matching resuslts for the manager (band 7), renal techs (band 6) - and now the interesting bit - the basic/entry EO1 post has been matched to band 6! The person spec required ONC/C&G plus 3 years general electronics servicing experience and we were expecting band 4, maybee 5). We await results for the remaining technicians. - Any bets on band 5 or 6 or even 7 or 8 - it just depends on which panel they get.? The posts clearly went to different panels and the outcome just shows what a lottery the process is. The outcome for the technicians matching is expected at the end of this month.
Any other managers out there prepared to share their banding?
Graham

The phrase "You can not be serious" comes to mind.
Surely now there must be an inquiry into this. Possibly the only way forward is through the unions but then again these are the same unions who recommended acceptance of a pay deal where at best they did not know what their members would get paid and in reality their members are getting paid less. How a union can recommend a pay deal that reduces the wages of their members is beyond belief.
My job has gone to JAQ (as most jobs appear to have done in my trust) and am awaiting the outcome which is likely to take several months more despite the initial JD being non matched about 3 months ago.
Does anyone know how the JAQ's are scored. The JD's were straight forward, for example there was possibly only one or two sentances relating to communications. The JAQ asks you to answer yes or no to every question and when you answer yes then you have to give an explanation and reasons. The result of this is that there are now 6 pages of questions and answers relating to communications. If you say yes to questions which equate to say level 4 and level 2, do they take an average or do they take the highest level.
Any help appreciated.

Tracy I would tell you how the matching here in Grampian went but we haven't even got as far as seeing our job descriptions yet never mind submitting them for evaluation. Only around 20% of all staff have been matched so far. This is most likely due to a complete lack of volunteers to do the matching.

What do you mean you haven't seen your JD's? We wrote (updated) our own with our respective sectional managers. I was under the impression all trusts did this.
