Some of the kit comes from auction houses... I've de-activated a few defibs for them in the past... Have a look out for the Lifepak 9 in the resus bay on Casualty... it's got a mark on the top left corner from a black marker pen!! For some reason everyone that is on the receiving end in the show dies?! confused

I take it it's done on the hush hush since a article last night in the Evening post (about one of the extras who took picture of David Tennant and now they won't give him any work on Casualty) said that all extra's for casualty come from one agency due to insurance.

Also I thought you might need a Equity card but thinking back I remember someone getting paid to have their front door kicked in (even paid for a new door) and was also offered work as a extra.

Paul

Excellent Idea, but there's only one title you could give your EBME-Sitcom show...

"Saving Lives"

Following the thread – we do get approached every now and then for the loan of equipment for both film and television. Generally this is a free of charge service, not so much for any advertising benefit but rather more for a bit of fun for the team involved. Check out Casino Royale and a Mars Bar for anyone that can tell me what medical kit is seen in shot in the clinic !

A certain company that build electric profiling beds in the birmingham area tends to do a lot of product placements.

Stopped watching most programs regarding hospitals, as I have a life :p

I saw Casino Royale; not sure about the clinic, but do please tell me who makes those tiny in-car de-fibs, about the size of a phone charger, that apparently allow the patient to administer their own shock whilst their heart is still in normal rhythm? Much easier to rush to a crash call with! Moira laugh

Slightly off topic, but it always tickled me when stuff on Star Trek and other sci fi series would break down with sparks and flames shooting from control panels.
Then the crew take equipment covers off and poke about inside the equipment, pulling boards and stuff out of the kit and saying things like "I'm afraid the neutron furtwangler has clunched the murkledrive cap'n!"
Medical engineering is just so easy by comparison. Casualty don't need engineering staff, because nothing there is travelling faster than sound or between galaxies !
