PACE The Professional Assosiation for Clinical Engineering was set up to promote Clinical Engineering. We have a BEST PRACTICE DAY coming up soon which you are all welcome to attend. (I will be giving away some lovely website deskpads and post-its) If anyone has any topic suggestions for future Best practice days, or is interested in joining the steering group, please let us know.

Sean - I suggest you read this document. http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc1855.html Section 3.1.1 Paragraph 6 (or 7 depending on how you interpret the line beak in para 3)

For other users information.
"Messages and articles should be brief and to the point. Don't wander off-topic, don't ramble and don't send mail or post messages solely to point out other people's errors in typing or spelling. These, more than any other behaviour, mark you as an immature beginner".
The quality of the spelling or presentation reflects the professionalism of any organisation or association, presentation is important. Any user accessing this site and making posts who makes typographical errors when promoting professional associations should consider the implications of how this will be recognised once in the public domain.
It is inevitable that this will be pointed out and may adversely affect promulgation of said information to a wider audience.
This, more than any other behaviour marks you out as a consummate professional.

It could be said that "May I suggest spell checking is on the agenda" is hardly the remark of a consummate professional. It is inevitable that this will be pointed out and may... There are a good few thousand posts on this forum - quite a few with typos - people generally let them pass without comment.

Huw, I don’t profess to be a consummate professional, just aspire to be (as we all should).
I am sure that there have been many thousands of posts which contain typo's, and broadly speaking I agree with the sentiments expressed regarding correction of errors. However, the typo in question, the miss-spelling of association, in my view detracts from the professional impact of the original post, yes/no ?
I am sure you will agree that just because the originator has administrator status does not mean they are above making errors.
One wonders if there would be a similar amount of fuss, if it was anyone else.

That really made me laugh Sean You have no idea of the amount of grief I give John on a daily basis! He's only an administrator because I'm just about to go on holidays - frankly the thought terrifies me... </font>

Yes, I admit, my spelling makes one wonder as to the educational establishment which educated me in illiteracy... and Huw has given me full administrative privelages while he is off on holiday (in Thailand) Ha, Ha , Ha, the power.....

John, seem to have lost the initial posting here which is about PACE. Collegues lets hear your comments about PACE. There is a 'Best Practice' Symposium organised for 21st April 2004 at Walsgrave Hospital, Coventry. There needs to be a least 100 registrations in order to build a foundation for the organisation which is promoting the profession. Now it is a new financial year it is a good time to persuade your Trust to join. Also fill in a study leave request and come along to find out what it is all about thus make the day a success and helps us move forward. Here is the Link
