Hi, We are having a few problems with the door hinges on the 5005 cracking and causing over infusions, is anybody else seeing this problem and if so, what are Arcomedical doing for you?

First, what are you doing about it, Sharen. That is, what's causing this to happen? And what sort of cracks are we talking about here ... big enough that the staff should notice and withdrawal the pump from use, or what? smile

Sharen, in my experience, wear and tear. Normally tear by the user. If these pumps are dropped, it's the bottom of the door that usually takes the hit. If the doors are continually removed, for cleaning etc, the hinges will weaken over time - a loose hinge usually upsets the occlusion calibration.
Also, I've had a number of situations where the butterfly cut-off, from the fluid bag, has dropped between the door and the peristaltic mechanism. Not only does this put a strain on to the door, but it also causes over infusion as it allows for a freeflow condition. Make sure that the EPROM addresses are set as per the service manual.

Cheers
Mark

Thank you for that, Mark. I'd hoped you might chime in as one of our Arcomed gurus. When I saw Sharen's post, I immediately thought perhaps there had been strain put on the door(s) by "something big" becoming trapped inside (?) Whilst we can't really pre-judge these issues, it sounds a bit like "user error" to me, Mate. Aside from advising the user, I guess the solution would be to simply snap on new doors and re-calibrate, wouldn't it? smile

I have always found Arcomed to be good 'listeners'. When we had some minor problems with the cases cracking, they took it seriously and dealt with it very quickly. smile

I took a look at one yesterday, and (assuming I'm understanding Sharen's problem correctly), it seems to me that the only way to crack those door "hinges" (that clip onto the steel pin), would be to place (or drop) the unit on the floor, open the door, then stand on it! Can't really blame the manufacturer for that, I wouldn't have thought. smile
