But I'd better also admit that (purely out of curiosity) I did once look into how it was meant to be done, what form it took etc. For the life of me I just can't see that simply ticking a few boxes automatically makes "everything alright". I can't say (in a public forum, that is) what I really think about this crazy notion that seems to have taken hold in (what was once) quite a sane country! Yes, Mate, the Dark Side beckons all who have a mind of their own! If you don't inspect ... don't expect.

As a manager if you have concerns about the safety of something you have to go about your duties in a proper manner, risk ssessment is basically all about logging common sense issues in a manner that is quantifibly accountable. Otherwise someone may have an accident and you may be liable. The system is there to protect everyone. In the past not logging stuff left many a bod with a headache when they had to report on why they did something, or for that matter what someone else who left years ago did. If JoLee would like an format for such give me a mail.

It just goes to show how willing to be "led by the nose" some people seem to be. I urge all members of this forum to think for themselves, and challenge nonsense every time it is encountered (and whatever its source). That way, we may actually discover that things are not quite as bad as we had imagined! If you don't inspect ... don't expect.
