I ve got an Acuson 128XP/10 that has a software problem, when switched on it displays message, "software sonopack is not licenced for this transducer" this unit has been working for 16 months only.

anybody with a solution to this problem?

It is possible that the battery on the prom board has depleted wiping the ram that holds the encryption string for the system.
Was it left out of use for a while? these systems need to be used regularly to keep battery topped up.
You will need to leave the system on for a while and re-load the encryption string. You may need to change the battery (round metal disk shape with 3 pins - about 3v.

Hi Phil,

This machine was brought in used, infact when i opened it to locate the batteries they had replaced them , there was some soldering done on the board.
Now could you be knowing where i could obtain these batteries? also how can i obtaion the encryption codes.

I was going to suggest a post on DOTmed, Roman, but I notice that you've already done that (good man)! I see that you've received the usual answers too. You might like to trawl through some of the earlier requests of a similar nature. Perhaps you'll find something there. The bottom line is that you need those encryption codes on this, and some of the other well-known ultrasound units. They are like gold!

If allowed, you can improvise with three AA nicads for the battery.

The encryption strings should be kept with the scanner - a matrix of hexadecimal pairs.
If they are lost then you will need to contact Siemens Medical with the system serial number to get a copy.

It is worth checking to see if they have been wiped first.

I believe the encryption strings are machine specific and linked in to the serial number of the machine so one from another machine would be no good to you.

Thats very true basically it means i have to get the codes that only work for this machine, one collegue from USA told me he can sell them to at $600, but i dont have guaratee that they will work.I believe the right place would be Siemens.

Hope all is fine, am now with the system and i have entered all the strings but when i switch on the system there appears a display with different letters,numbers..., however even before i fixed the batteries and the strings they did appear how can i do away with them or get a completely free screen.?? i saved the strings and when i do crosscheck they still appear, i did save them.
