Power user versus "hands-on" (geek)! Or, if you prefer, one breaks the kit, whilst the other fixes it.

Where to draw the line? Easy ... which of the two would open up the machine?

Best stick with technician. smile

Here Here!

Infact i propose the....... VMET
Voluntary Register of Medical Equipment Technicians.

A voluntary group of contientious Technicians with Service & Safety their watchwords.
Furthermore, Membership of this prestigious organization shall be free. The reason being that to charge (or tax) for membership of an organization based on the core values of competency and integrity serves no valid purpose!

Rock On, Mate. But shouldn't that be the Voluntary Register of Medical Equipment Engineering Technicians?

But, why do we need a register, anyway? We already know who we are! smile

How about the "Voluntary Register of Medical Equipment Engineering Technicians?" being the same as the list of active participants of the EBME website?

Could be ... but define "active"! Also (to my mind) many who get on here are not true followers of the faith. But again ... define ...

No need for a list, Mate (see my earlier post). smile

That's very defeatist of you Geoff.
We need paperwork,. Lots of it!
Everyone knows that lots of paperwork & clipboards justify your position and secures your employment.

The more paperwork you generate, the higher your salary.
It's quite simple really smile

This is reality we have to admit but all greybeards don't buy this as sometimes it seems impractical. What then if you can churn out lots of papers but as a matter of fact it doesn't work in the context of getting work done? But having said that there were exceptional cases. Just my view.

Make the impossible POSSIBLE. I know we all can and it is the wisdom to distinguish one from the other.

Don't forget about the silk tied suited bureacrats we need to shuffle the said paperwork around Huw.

I think you've missed my point Roger.
The more paper you have on your desk, the busier you must be.
Therefore your boss will have to pay you more...

Don't worry, guys ... it's just Huw's (feeble) attempt at winding me up. He knows very well that I don't need "lots of paperwork and clipboards to justify" my "position". Neither do they secure my employment (what employment?). Doom on all Baboons! wink
