A worthy addition to the pot, there, RD.

What would be nice is if we could hear about the prices of all these nice (and some, sadly, not so nice) systems (eg, E-MAT, HECS, SEMS, Optim ... and all the rest - including the ones from the States). It needn't be the actual price, just something relative, "ball-park" or whatever. Someone fancy kicking it off? I would do it myself, but I honestly don't have a clue what these commercial systems ring in at. smile

Now that I've had a go with Optim EMS v4 myself, I can report that I like the "filters" idea (SQL code). I also like the flexibility it offers in allowing you to pick which data fields you want displayed in a browse. Very nice. Features like this appeal to my belief that modern systems should be as configurable (by the user) as possible.

As previously mentioned by others, I can confirm that you need someone on the staff to be able to do that SQL coding. Yes, it "does" stock control, but so do many other packages (some of them ancient). It is a workable system, but there again so is (was) SEMS, HECS and most of the others (especially if, like me, you like to have a play with this type of stuff). However, I haven't noticed any Risk Factor elements yet, and I haven't got a clue how much it all costs. Is it value for money? I doubt it ... but who knows? All in all (as far as I'm concerned), the comments I posted a year ago still stand! smile

Hi Geoff,

I represent Centriq Limited who are the sole resellers and supports of GE's Enterprise Asset Management software - AssetPlus Reflex. As a supplier it is very dificult to give "ballpark" figures since every customer is different. Also publishing these figures obviously gives our competitors an unfair advantage.

If anyone would like to know more about AssetPlus or a demo please contact me. I am able to provide "ballpark" figures on the basis that these are not published or provided to competitors.

Regards

Hello John. Are you selling software, or a complete "solution" (system, including hardware etc.) ... perhaps both?

If you are selling a piece of software, I can't see why you (or the other players) can't give an idea of what it costs. smile

1) £ 100
2) less than £ 500
3) more than £ 1,000
4) more than £ 5,000 ... etc.

If I said that I could sell a program for £ 500 ... does that mean that Philips would suddenly drop the price of Optim to £ 499? Somehow I doubt it.

Are there annual licensing fee as well? It is never ending with annual licence!

Hi Geoff,

I have be careful as to how I word this reply since I have been contacted by EBME and asked not to advertise.

We are selling a complete solution which is focussed on asset management and as such includes RFID.

The software element has a fixed cost and depends on the number of users. Like many companies in this market our pricing is very similar and sometimes knowing what your competitors are charging can be advantageous.

Roger - There is no annual licene fee but we do offer Subscription which entitles you to latest fixes and versions (Gen4 of AssetPlus is available later this year and all current subscribers will get this automatically).

I guessed it is definitely NOT inexpensive and fixes (inherent) should come as FOC unlike upgrades.
