This is a senior position within the Directorate of Planning and Service Development.
The post holder will lead in the development and delivery of a professional medical equipment strategy and will lead the development and implementation of clinical equipment and their corresponding systems and processes that are effective, efficient and provide tangible measurable benefit to the Trust.
The role is responsible for the inception, procurement, development, delivery, implementation and future support of approved medical equipment for the Trust. This will involve in particular, working with Trusts clinical users.
The MEMS service has a direct impact on the delivery of patient care within the Trust.
The post holder will promote understanding of the medical equipment concept within the Trust and support development and delivery of associated work programmes.
The Head of MEMS will manage budget and resources for all MEMS projects and services to ensure compliance with the terms and conditions of associated contracts
The incumbent must be self-directed and able to work autonomously with the ability to interpret and advise the organisation on technical policies.
In addition the individual will be expected to constantly research and develop new technologies, strategic planning and implementation for the entire organisation and advise the Trust accordingly.
They need to be able to specify, design, develop, implement and support complex technical solutions across clinical platforms, in the process liaising with and managing 3rd party suppliers, short term contractors and Trust staff as well as project manage the implementation, testing, acceptance, rollout and ongoing support of these solutions across the entire organisation.
They also need to be able to develop user and support documentation, present technical briefings at all levels of the Trust and deliver user and MEMS engineer training; consequently advanced communication and documentation skills and a highly developed command of the English language are required.
