I suppose your talking about ECG type monitoring (?) in which case you need something with a display which isn't affected by strong magnetic fields - so that rules CRT's out ! I think some liquid crystal displays are also affected by magnets so that leaves the phosphor-flourescent type.
The main problem is the fact that the field is oscillating, so it will induce electric currents in anything conductive, so that rules out anything electrical.
Hmmmm! I bet you couldn't even use a mercury sphyg without the mercury trying to jump out of the tube !
We have a mobile unit which comes round once a week and I know they don't have any equipment in there other than the stuff for the scanner itself. You cant even wear a watch anywhere near the head unit and there are warning signs outside allerting pacemaker wearers to the danger from "strong magnetic fields".
Get the nurse to feel the patient's pulse, that should work OK.
