Perhaps it's for the best that they continue popping in, for the time being at least. Surely anything is better that simply reverting to the status quo ante? frown

I would have no problem if it was constructive and meant patient care was improving but we have seen a decrease in patient care but at least we are now logging it on the right forms!!

The rules do actually give clear definitions that anyone can work to. Each of the 18 rules is a definition of a type of device (thus determining risk classification) including 'our' sort of kit. For example a temperature monitor is class 11a, ECG monitor class 11b, Infusion pump class 11a, (all medium risk) surgical instrument class1 (low risk) etc, etc.

Depends on what you class as a medical device, invasive, non-invasive. equipment, implants etc. Got a really good list from ECRI including bandages and condoms.


If you think hiring professionals is expensive, try hiring amateurs!
