I have been well and truly wound up twice this morning by accountants questioning my ability to perform my duties. Do we really need to spend this much? Do we have to have it fully comprehensive? Can we not make do?
I once went for a job with Marconi Aerospace, as was, designing guidance systems for air to air misiles....that information may well come in useful right now mad

Not much "making do" when it comes to weapon systems! smile

Meanwhile, have pity on them, Mate. They're only suits after all, and who knows what goes on (if anything) in their tiny minds. Don't worry, they'll be "here today, and gone tomorrow", inshallah.

Have you tried my "lead, follow, or get out of the way" response on them?

PS: pity about the "as was". As I've mentioned (more than a few times) before that just about sums up (the formerly) Great Britain these days. frown

I just had my 5 minitues worth, I went into the office where all these protazoa swim and spoke to my old secretary. She asked me how it was going and my voice went up 10 or 20 dB as I spouted on about the accidents that are sure to follow and how the accountants will be to blame and they all scuttled off as if a torch had been shone on them. You are right about here today etc, I've gone through about 4 or 5 in as many years, still don't trust the low-lifes though! If they were any good at it, they would be in private practice raking in the money not salaried on less than the chief bog-cleaner.

I too was questioned on the practice of spending money on comprehensive contracts by an accountant once.
I offered to draw up a list of the contracts and he could decide which ones to remove. His eyes lit up until I told him he would be expected to sign to take the responsibility of have kit down, cancelled lists, or very expensive repairs.
He walked away unhappy.

Yeah, Doom on all Pond Life! smile

Nice one, Graham. A text book example of how to see off the dross!

Always remember that "we're right, and they're wrong"!

I do not mind admittiting when I have "cocked" up and done something wrong but that doesn't matter now, as long as the slip was more cost-effiecient or some other pseudo-speak. And if I hear the word "Facilitator" one more time today........

Doom on all Facilitators! Oops ... sorry! smile

Cost-effective mistakes? Well, that's a new one! But don't worry, "at the end of the day, lessons have been learned"!

Oh yes, pseudo speak ... also known as BS (for Baboon Speak, as well as other meanings).

For "issue" ... read "problem"! That's the one that grates on me, for some reason. I don't have an issue with that, I take issue with it!

What's wrong with using English for pity's sake? We are, after all, the English, speaking our own native language in England (believe it or not).

My own tactic when someone starts using PC "management speak" on me is to say, "I'm sorry, but if you want to talk to me, you'll need to use English"! The same goes for people from the so-called "ethnic communities", many of whom were not only born in England, but were also taught English in English schools, at great expense to the (English) tax-payer! frown

As Graham said, just ask THEM which equipment they don't want you to service. We've been though it several times, strangely enough we always got the money.

I've got my office keys ready to hand then with a label attached to switch the light off to save energy on the way out!

I've had the one " its your job to say which contracts we close" etc to which I always reply none without the staff. We then go round the merry go round of me being b@llocked for not giving "them" the correct information.

Lunch time anyway...I wish there was a pub near here :-)

Dr Check out "Mike Green at The Medical Room" they have quite a few posts available and you can then pass all the service orders on to the accountants and ask them if they can do a better job as you leave through the front door.
