I think your definitive reference would be DoH Records Management NHS code of Practice published earlier this year (page 40 if you're interested)

As you'll see, some of the requirements are linked back to the Consumer Protection Act 1987.

Care to summarise the requirements, Brian (John? Anybody)?

Still muddling along with this backcraq thing. Putting in the PPM's is fun and when you think everything is ok, it all goes wrong. You would think that if you put in a date for a certain task it would release on that date, no you have to go in and release it manually. Cracking waste of my time putting them in, bring back the calender method!
