I came accross these online training sessions. Worth a look, especially for the junior/newcomer staff... and also as a refresher for the rest of us. http://www.mhra.gov.uk/ConferencesLearningCentre/LearningCentre/index.htmI haven't completed them yet, so can't comment. But, from what i have seen, they look well done. And they are certified!

Looks like good stuff! But I notice that passwords are needed in some cases. Any problems there (for those outside the NHS, and/or overseas)?

All courses have the same username and password. was very straightforward. Automated email reply with the details.

These were mentioned at the TFI medical device training conference yestersday. The ones that need a password have pictures of patients in so are accessible only to those with NHS emails. They hope to have the patients' permission to go public in the near future. In the elctrosurgery one it is only the gall bladder that is seen but you know what litigation is like these days. Robert

Oops! Wonder why they allowed me in then? Nice choice of music. Better enjoy the privilege whilst I can, I guess. BTW : I've only got a result (so far) by using IE8. That is, Firefox and Chrome didn't seem ready to play. PS: interesting to see MHRA quoting ECRI!

Thanks for the link to the courses Biomed. Being quite new to this field of work, I found the first one I tried useful and interesting. What was annoying though, was having achived 80% in all the quizzes throughout a 45 minute presentation and passed the course, it gave me 1 second to click on the certificate to download a copy, which I missed! While I am not about to print out a copy of an online certificate for my own personal gratification, completed as I sipped beer at home, I wonder how someone at work would feel if their manager had expected them to complete this as a module of their training. But they were not told that they have to click the certificate really fast to actually get a copy.

Mmmmmm whats the point of the online training sessions being there if you can simply get a certificate.

well exactly. The only reason I did one was because I am new to this profession and I did pick up some useful information about technical details which helps me to understand some of the terms and fittings I have already been involved with on less complex equipment.

cheers! Thanks franklin, I appreciate your offer, but I don't really want a certificate. I have attended several training courses with Medical equipment companies already, and I do not need any on line course certificates to pad out my file. Especially as my people are keen to keep organising more training for me as opportunities come available.
