Take a pill and chill out man! Now lets get back on topic. One of my pet hates is those companies that insist you buy a service exchange unit instead of making a simple part a field replacement unit. Simply makes cost of ownership much more expensive that it should be.
Any thoughts and opinions are purely personal & not representative of any prior, current or future employers. Any resemblance to persons living, dead or fictitious is just shear bad luck

And why are the 'IT Boffs' reading this site, they should be working. Not reading jokes and non-work related stuff.

Hiya Neil I think the point that "Scottish" was attempting to make was that if someone was found using the internet during the working day for non-work related activities, this is frowned upon by the IT department watchdogs (and others within our own workplace).
I think we have enough bureaucracy to deal with, and so long as the work is being done, I don’t feel it pays to impose further restrictive practices. This includes internet access. A happy workplace is productive, and granting a certain leeway, or flexible approach, helps.

Indeed. As I may have hinted at before, Sean ... Neil has been away from the NHS for a very long time, and he may not have realised how many "anal" and/or "Jobsworth" types live (and, apparently, thrive) within that bloated organisation. But happily (and again as mentioned many times before), despite its name, this forum is not part of the National Health Service, and neither does it exist solely to serve that enterprise. Pet hates? How about the two types mentioned above?

I am sure there are those within our profession who would rather "micro-manage" all aspects of our working day.
"Safeguarding" is too often used as an excuse for imposing restrictions just for the sake of it.

All part of the Plan, I'm sure. Unfortunately, due to its sheer size, the NHS provides a safe haven in which those with "agendas" can hide, and flourish. That's another of my pet hates! To put it bluntly, I would prefer that tax-payers' money was spent on the care of the sick, injured, the needy, young children and their mothers ( etc.), rather than paying the salaries of those who make only, shall we say, a negative contribution.

Reading a joke whilst searching for information is taboo in the NHS, but as all NHS techs are well funded and trained why should they look for information outside of their comfort zone.
