We have had the McKinley BodyGuard pumps for about a number of years now and recently bought the T34 (24Hr ambulatory pump) ... we have only just discovered that the pumps contain an internal lithium battery which controls the time and date and needs routinely checking and replacing!

BE WARNED - THIS IS NOT IN THEIR MAINTENENCE MANUAL!!

Is anyone else finding that the technical information that they provide is totally and utterly rubbish?

Thanks for the warning. Given some of the competetion, I still hold the McKinley pumps in very high regard! I checked the service manual, and you are quite correct. However I would not expect date and time to be critical to the pumps operation, and hence I doubt we shall start checking them on a regular basis.

Hi
What version of the manual do you have - I have Jan 2007 and fine the lithium battery mention on page 17.

I can send you the document if you need.

I believe that the OEM of these pumps is CME in Israel.

So there's another source for information, parts, training ... and, indeed, the pumps themselves right there! smile

If the device is involved in a clinical incident then the date and time is critical. its not just an offset with the pumps its drifting

Two thoughts:-

1) Has anyone taken this up with CME McKinley in the UK?
2) Does anyone use the BodyComm device to download data from the T34 (it looks like a useful piece of kit)?

The service manual can be obtained from McKinley on their training course.

As for the BodyComm device Geoff, yes lovely little device, allows you to quickly make modifications to the config via the pc without having to mess with entering the codes via the syringe driver.

The only thing I've found on these is that compared to the Graseby MS16A the parts are more expensive, but then again what goes wrong on a MS16A is cheap and cheerful.

Apparently so ... but £ 1,800 is a bit beyond my budget, I'm afraid. frown

McKinley are a waste of space. Their technical department has got well down hill in the last 3 or so years!

I think its the case of a small company getting bigger and not giving a hoot.
