OK Nick ... I believe you may be a "Stryker man". smile

Here is the question posed to me by one of our recently joined members:-

"On the mother board of the Stryker 888 I found a switch with positions NORM and ADJ."

Then the guy goes on to enquire about its purpose.

OK, Normal and Adjust ... but adjust what, we wonder?

So, do you (or anyone else) know the function of this switch? smile

I have already passed the question around some of the Wise Ones*, but without firm result (as yet).

* Including, I might add, my Old Mate Big Tony, who (for some reason or other) can no longer log on to the forum. Which is a pity really, as he is an experienced bloke with much to offer.

If you don't inspect ... don't expect.

I will try to find out the function of this switch, unfortunately as this is an obsolete product its not as easy for me to get information about it. Since the 888 there has been 988, 1088, 1188 and now 1288 camera systems.

But from a service point of view there should be no reason for anyone to touch that switch as it does not mention it in the service manual.

Its possible it was used in the factory for final adjustments to the video processor board or something like that. But I will try to find out.

Alright I found a 888 console in the storeroom at work and had a play with it today. Opened it up and located that switch, the unit I have which works is set to NORM.

There should be no reason for you to switch it to ADJ, unless you have travelled back in time to a Stryker factory in 1999 and are doing final checks on it :P

If you can give me more details of the unit you have I can help you out, as sometimes a service manual doesn't contain all the answers.

First of all what is the exact model number of the unit you have?

On the back of the unit above the Serial Number will be a model/reference number.

Second of all, what type of cables are you using to connect the camera console to the monitor.

Third what type of monitor are you using ie model/brand.

To me the fault you have stated of black and white image would indicate either the S-Video cable being used is not plugged in correctly or is damaged.

Or the camera console or monitor set up is not compatable ie NTSC console with PAL monitor or PAL console with NTSC monitor. (to check whether the console is PAL or NTSC have a look at the model number on the back if it is "888i" it means its the international version which is PAL)

Hope this helps please let me know how you go. All the best.
