I think you are right Geoff....will you be at the conference next week? Avensys have a stand so it would be nice to catch up.

If I could afford such frivolity as that, Rob, I would probably spend the day doing something useful ... like studying the motor-bikes!

No doubt conferences are great fun for some folk, but does any of that hot air ever get translated into practical improvements at the "coal face"? Somehow I doubt it. frown

REME wasn't built on conferences ... but instead underwent a true Baptism of Fire recovering and repairing tanks in the Western Desert. Clearly a case of Action, rather than Words!

And the root causes of failure? Mechanical breakdown, enemy gun-fire ... and anti-tank mines!

Geoff you old cynic. You have become (without your realisation) this forum's soothsayer,oracle...a fountain of knowledge etc. I would have thought this conference would be paying you for your attendance? You are more than welcome to come and join us on the Avensys stand, in fact I will even pay for your ticket and travel Geoff. I am sure anyone attending the conference would like to see you in the flesh (to coin a phrase).

I'm being serious Geoff give me a call if you fancy a day out. we can then discuss root causes of failure all day long.....

Cynical? Not at all. Just living proof that techs (and I mean the "hands-on" kind) don't need to attend seminars, conferences and the like. By and large we already know what needs to be done, and all we ask are the resources and support required to be able to get on with it.

But this time next week? You're very kind, Rob ... but I can't react that quickly, Mate. LOL.

And I'm sure that most folk saw more than enough of me a couple of years ago when I turned up at the show put on by John and Huw et al ... where I enjoyed all day amongst the exhibitors (that is, never venturing into the conference hall at all). smile

Meanwhile ... the place to discuss the topic in question is right here, I'm afraid.

Great sighs of relief all round.

An Aunt Sally, you mean. think

No thanks, Mate ... I get enough ridicule (and abuse) on here as it is, without setting myself up for yet another dose.

I'm busy enough with my own projects at the moment, Rob. smile

HI Guys, I think I should say something as I posted the original question, but first of all I have to say Geoff you are definitely a cynic, but sometimes you are bang on right. For example I did have lots of zeal when I was taking the project on my degree.....but now its been put on the shelf to gather dust

I had all good intentions of applying it, but haven't, so far...so watch this space. I have created a Root Cause Analysis Model designed for a Clinical Engineering Department, however cause I haven't applied it in practice I can't patent it (lol) or say its the business.

Anyway Rob I hope you're doing O.K, you're a good guy, but I wont be able to come to that conference as my colleagues beat me to it, but please send us an e-mail if you need a testimonial for the Foundation Degree that I think is still run by your guys, Avensys Medical. It really had some relevant and interesting subject matters.

Thanks for the update, Steve. smile

Surely the way to validate (and if need be, revise or improve) your Model is to open it up for peer review. That is, share it.

No problem, if anybody wants to see the final project, to see if it could help their department, they're welcome.
